I’m sad to say that Joe passed away this year, the day before Easter. He was 85 years old and lived a full life. Many people reached out during the services and the weeks after to let his family know how much they loved him, how much they miss him, and how much of an impact he had on their lives and careers. He will be truly missed.
The goal of this site now is to keep promoting Joe’s work, as a performer, educator, and innovator in mouthpiece technology. The hope is to keep his legacy alive and to allow it to continue to make an impact on the music community and the wider world

I’m a good friend of Joe’s nephew John Shepley, went to school together in Bronxville, NY. Met Joe in the 1970’s, saw him play, talked to him. He was an inspiration then and over the years. I am a professional saxophonist living in Lancaster, PA. very active on the scene in Central PA and elsewhere. I also run Dave Wilson’s Musical Instruments, buyers and sellers of quality used Woodwinds and Brass. Keep me on the list! -Dave Wilson
